The Employer Family

As member of an employer family I have been involved in the company of my father very early. See the history which started with my grandfather Arnold Laschet sen. (1887-1979) (see Fig. right) at the beginning of the last century.

In 1918 my grandfather Arnold Laschet sen. (seen at right photo) set up a company in Essen (city in the Ruhr area of Germany), specialized in mechanical and electrical engineering, design of tools, fixtures, jigs, gears, devices, special machine tools, and made-to-order production. After World War II, his two sons Arnold Laschet (my uncle) and Guenther Laschet (my father) took over the management of his company.

Even as a child I came into "contact" with machinery. The following picture has been taken in 1959 (machining and assembly shed in Essen).

Since then the products, which have always been linked to the name of ARLA (abbreviation of the senior's name Arnold Laschet), have been continually developed and distributed.

The further growth of the family-owned business led to splitting the company into two independent legal entities in 1984.

Guenther Laschet

At this time, my father Guenther Laschet and me set up the company ARLA Maschinentechnik GmbH in Kuerten, a small town near Cologne. In 2002 the company moved to a new location in Wipperfuerth. The name "Maschinentechnik" stands for machine products, technical software, engineering services, and consulting.
